Default Guide: XCM Rapid Fire Gear - Easy Install - Beta

I've been messing around with the Rapid Fire Gear and trying to get an easier installation method working. I have gotten it working somewhat, but need other peoples input to see if they are having any luck using this method. I've tried it on 2 x v2 controller pcbs and it works but is flakey. So this thread will hopefully help us work out any kinks or come to a conclusion on why its acting this way or if there is a way to fix it.

Basically the Easy Install method is extremely easy, but has limited functionality. The turbo will only work on the 4 fire buttons on the face of the controller (A,B,X,Y), but this is not a problem with most games as buttons can easily be remapped if need be. Anyhow the method to install this is extremely easy, in fact its so easy that if you've installed one of the other controller cases by XCM with LED lights in them you'll be able to do this install exactly the same way. It requires only 2-3 solder points, with the hardest solder point being the +5v on the controller pcb v2 because it still requires you to expose the solder point from underneath the insulation. For v1 controller pcbs, the +5v solder point is huge and is already exposed, so the install is even easier.

Anyhow the installation manual is at the following url: http://www.teamxcm.com/installimages...bo-manual1.jpg

Please note you are performing this install at your own risk. But this install method does not require any traces to be cut so it is easily reverable as long as no damage has been done to the controller.

While messing around with the v2 controller i noticed that in order to activate turbo you need to take the battery pack out to turn the controller off and then put it back in and press the guide button. Immediately you will need to hold down the button (A,B,X,Y) you want to activate and hold the tubro on/off switch until it lights up. Sometimes you can do more than one button by repeating this process and other times you cannot. You'll see what i mean once you get a chance to play with it. To turn turbo off you may need to once again remove the battery pack and restart the controller. I have the engineers in china working on perfecting this method, so i will post any of their responses here when they get back to me. I'm guessing some code on the microcontroller will need to be changed in order to get this working 100%, but at least this is a start in the right direction for those who do not think they can do the full install on their own. Also by doing this easy install method you can always go back later and do the shoulder bumpers and triggers if you feel froggy enough to do so.
