Kinda need more information than that if you want us to help you troubleshoot the issue. Post as much info as you can with pics if possible and we will do our best to help.

Here are some pics. As I have said before my controller won't even start up. You'll see on the back of the pcp board I accidentally riped out the copper a & b rings so I soldered to the insulated copper wires leading back to the chip. Not much else I can think of. http://http://s274.photobucket.com/albums/jj279/njvw007/ Last edited by njvw; 02-17-2009 at 10:11 PM. |

Sounds like the +5v is grounded out. Check the +5v area to be sure. You may want to redo the +5v to an alternative point on the back of the controller pcb.

I know this is a stupid question but I don't know too much about these 360 controllers (just upgraded from a ps2). LOL! Where is this possibly grounded out 5v and where can I exactly relocate it? |

Look at the instructions and you'll be able to spot the +5v point pretty easily. The main thing to look for is if you accidentially scraped off too much insulation from the common ground matrix surrounding the point, if this is the case and you used a large blobl of solder it will connect the +5v to the surrounding copper which is ground and will stop the controller from working at all. This is a common problem people have when they are in a hurry or aren't magnifying the area enough to really see what they are doing.

Also by looking at the pictures it really looks like you've lifted a bunch of traces, which may or may not be causing the controller to not function as well. You really need to take a look at the pcb on both sides to see if maybe a connection needs to be made where you are soldering to. Sometimes the spots you need to solder to are there to make connections between 2 traces that need to be connected and by lifting the trace you are keeping it from making that connection. This is not a big deal if you had to cut a trace but otherwise it is.

Ok I have been redoing all my work and checking the controller to see if it works every time a solder a wire. I have the soft yellow pcb and am soldering the wires to it. When I solder the vcc wire to the soft pcb and start up the controller, the controller makes a high pitched noise and when I take it back off the controller fires up fine. Any thoughts?
