Default XCM Dominator

Hello team XCM, I recently bought the XCM Dominator and love it. I was just wondering what type of stick you used in it, I want to put a Sanwa in and was wondering if you could help me on wether the shapes are universal and if it would fit. Heres a link to the most similar looking stick I could find: http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/pr...pjoysticks.htm

If it fits its a nice easy straight swap!

Thanks

Rexxey

I don't know first hand but i would think it would fit just fine. You may need to do some fabricating to get it just right but it shouldn't be too bad. The sanwa buttons would work perfectly, the existing buttons are 30mm, so thats not a problem. Anyhow i'll see about doing the swap here shortly, i just haven't had the time to do it.

Thanks for the quick reply, I've already ordered 8 buttons shame I couldnt get chrome but white will do.

Let me know how you get on with the swap or if I try it first I'll let you know. The stick in the Dominator feels pretty solid to be fair it takes a pounding its just a bit stiff for my liking. I sometimes miss the dash cancel on SFIV and similar motions cos I push it too lightly.

Well most joysticks require abit of a break in period. They are made for commercial applications where they take a major pounding on a daily basis and hold up to whatever you can throw at them (just about). But anyhow i like the sanwa parts myself and have been a builder of joysticks in the past so i know good parts when i see them. The buttons on the dominator are abit cheap for my liking, but thats me personally, and since they can be swapped out easily enough its not a big deal. The joystick is the only part that may need abit of convincing to get working, but the sanwa joystick is the one that would work, or possibly a seimitsu as they have a much shallower footprint than compared to american joysticks like happ for example. Also the japanese joysticks and buttons are meant for people who are seriously dedicated to fighting type games as they are still extremely popular in that part of the world. They still have arcades over there whereas here in america we don't have but a couple of them left. I know where i live i'd have to travel nearly 100 miles to get to an arcade, and thats just not worth my time. Anyhow good luck on your adventure but with alittle bit of common sense i'm sure you'll get to where you want to be

Had the buttons in a while, almost there with the stick just need to drill it out for the screws. It wasn't easy to get to this point its a bit of a squeeze with the PCB and I had to cut away a good few mil of the sanwa sticks housing to get it level without weakening the Dominator casing also had to cut away the the moulded mounts for the previous stick and grind down the stumps so the stick sits flat otherwise the srews will just shatter the plastic on tightening. If I get it in without shattering the casing I'll post some pics up when finished.

Yeah i figured you'd need to do some dremeling to get it to fit just right, but it should work out just fine. The buttons should be easy, the joystick was my only concern, but it seemed there should be plenty of space in there to install one, but you'll probably need to fabricate some brackets to hole it in properly.

Well its in and absolutely solid works like a charm went to put the bottom back on and doh!
Had to drill it out for the bottom of the stick and put some rubber feet on the bottom Gonna order a octagonal gate now which I didn'nt spend money on in case the task went tits up. Didnt fabricate any brackets but what I did do was cut down the steel cabinet mounting plate so it fits in the square so it keeps everything absolutely rigid also acts as a spacer for the lip on the stick and stops it pulling down on the plastic which was much easier than redrilling the joystick hole to fit the sanwa lip as it has the 4 locating notches around it.

Ok here it is:

This one I tried to show the clearance the rubber feet give it, just enough on a hard surface

I need to get some counter sunk screws with flat heads the only ones I had in the garage that were long enough have rounded tops. Also considering some graphics for it. Seen lots of home made sticks with nice graphics any idea where you get them made and are they pricey?
