I have a Wii connected to a XCM 1080p Mega-Cool VGA box unit using a Wii AV component cable and then to a LG 1080p 16:9 TFT monitor using a VGA cable. I have the following problems: 1. When I set the TV mode on the Wii to 480i/60Hz then Mega-Cool VGA works properly at any resolution lower or equal to 1280x1024 at 60Hz. When I press the B button to switch to the 1920x1080 at 60Hz resolution mode the displayed image has a problem: there are a few vertical white distortion lines while the image lacks brightness. I noticed this exact same distortion on your video (http://www.xcm.cc/Mega cool vga.WMV) when the person in the video connects the PS2 and switches the VGA box to the 1920x1080 resolution! It can be clearly seen distorting the letters "g" and "d" on your video. I have the exact same problem. 2. When I set the TV mode on the Wii to 480p (EDTV/HDTV menu option) then Mega-Cool VGA has the following problem at all resolutions: every minute or so the screen goes black and comes back after approx. 2 seconds. It seems that for some reason the VGA box stops sending a signal every so often to the TFT monitor! I noticed that when this happens two small green lights momentarily appears within the Source (blue) button. Therefore, the only usable setting for me is the 420i with the VGA box configured to display at 1280x1024 at 60Hz but still there is some grain in the image and noise in the form of horizontal lines which are more visible in the dark areas. Is there a problem with my VGA box or am I missing something? P.S. Reading the forum I noticed that other people also experience the problem with the blackouts when using the Wii 480p mode. It is NOT a power supply fluctuation problem since I tested it with a UPS unit. Also, the lights on the VGA box do not fluctuate. What happens is that for a moment the green lights come up as if the VGA box switches to the VGA input and temporarily cuts the component video signal! This looks like a hardware design problem to me. As for the vertical distortion lines, this also looks like a hardware issue. Is the Mega-Cool VGA box wrongly designed? Does the XCM 1080p VGA Box device exhibit the same problems? Last edited by paspro; 10-13-2009 at 11:29 AM. |

Hello XCM Team, I have exactly same issue - brightness is very strange on all resolutions and on 1080p also vertical lines appeared on the screen. Could you please confirm if this is normal or should I complaint this? Thank you. |

Hi, I have the same problems with the XCM 1080p Mega-Cool VGA box that I bought yesterday. Could anyone from the team reply to this post and answer our questions? |
