I have 2 42" LCD monitors.. Both have HDMI, VGA and Component connectors. Viewsonic n4285p (native 1080p) Westinghouse W4207 (native 720p) For the longest time I had my 720 in my livingroom, hooked up to my PS2 and Wii.. Picture was pretty decent. I moved, I ended up putting the 1080p in my living room, hooked up to my PS2 and Wii and my 720p is now in my bedroom. But.. I notice now.. my Wii games are way more jaggy than before. I've been told this is because 1080p sets do not downsample to 480p as well as a 720p does. It would it be possible to get a Stereo Receiver that does upconverting, but that solution is $600+ 2. Are there any stand-alone devices that do this? I've been lurking amongst the internet for a bit, and I've found a couple devices, namely HDFury (No idea how this works..) XCM 1080p Mega-Cool VGA Box (Converts to VGA, not sure if it can "force" a higher resolution than what the console outputs) XCM HDMI Blaster (I'm guessing this would work like DVD's with HDMI in the back, scaling up to 720p?) I've got next to no information on them, the videos on Youtube aren't very descriptive so I don't know if the picture quality improves at all when used with PS2 or Wii... or if any of these devices even do up-scaling. Worst Case Scenario, I can swap my 720p out to my livingroom again. I would like to have some sort of proper solution for my problem though. Thank you in advance! It looks good and should do exactly what you want it to do. best of all its only about $100 with overnight shipping. A higher quality equivalent http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=5282 will cost you like $350 but will more than likely look slightly better. That said I don't have any problems with my wii on a 61 inch 1080p tv, no jaggies and a really sharp image. I got the HDMI blaster for my computer monitor which has problems displaying wide screen wit hthe wii's resolution and thus this forces it into a more standard wide screen resolution. |
