Hi TEAM XCM! I am excited about your product since the day I saw your promotional video on youtube. But pity I purchased a weird resolution monitor from ACER that is 18.5 inch wide and has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels! its an ACER x193hq model ------------------------------------------------- Feature available to Store Members ![]() Acer X193HQ - 18.5" Wide, 16:9 HD The slim and attractive 19" Widescreen offers optimised price performance in one package, driving the latest display technologies like adaptive contrast management and rapid response rate for a flawless performance. The X193HQ ensures viewing comfort for sustained usage, without eyestrain. Supporting a black bezel frame and smoothly contoured black base adding contemporary style to any home environment. I have the component cables too. Now I have to decide whether I should get this XCM MEGA COOL VGA BOX or not. Please help me whether your product supports this weird resolution from the WXGA series of monitors or not. If I order this, and get to know that it doesn't do as expected then it will be such a huge waste of money. I can risk some 50 dollars to experiment, but your product is way too expensive. I would have ordered it blindly if it supported 1366x768 resolution. Please help TEAM XCM Last edited by wroxtar; 05-27-2009 at 04:06 PM. |

Its not way too expensive, its the only unit on the market that does what it is advertised to do. The unit itself does not determine the output resolution, the input source does. In the case of the xbox 360 you can change the output resolution of the console to whatever resolution is supported, and 1366 x 768 is one of those that it will output, so for that console it would work. But the ps2 may or may not be able to handle that resolution. If thats the case then the monitor will need to be able to take the input signal and make use of it, if it cannot then you are stuck, but its not the fault of the mega cool vgabox, its the fault of the console.

Anyways, can you tell me whether it will work for 1280 x 768 or 1280 x 720 for my monitor with component cable? And one more question...can I play all PS2 games in the best component video quality using this box? Or only some would work as with other vga boxes...? And yea...XCM MEGA COOL VGA BOX is not the only unit that does what it is advertised to, I know of few other products too. - HDBOXPRO - http://www.hdboxpro.com/eng/public.htm - High BOX - http://www.gamemanx.com/multi-platfo...er/2008/05/20/ - Geniatech HD Game Box - http://www.geniatech.com/pa/hdgamebox.htm rest of them don't need mention here I guess... Expecting an early response. Thanks in advance - Last edited by wroxtar; 05-28-2009 at 02:28 PM. |

I did not say it will not work with the ps2 console but the console must be able to output in a resolution that your monitor will handle, if it does you are fine, if not you will have problems. The other box's you listed appear to be somewhat like the mega cool vga box, but not exactly. There are some core features they share and some they do not. As a consumer you can choose whichever best suits your application. XCM has been making vgabox devices for nearly a decade, and all of them have gotten great reviews across the board. You can play the ps2 on your pc monitor in the best resolution the console supports, if it'll do 720p or 768p then it will work as long as your monitor can accept those signals.

I understand that XCM is on the gaming scene since a long long time. And I do understand that if your product is priced most heavily compared to other boxes, it must be having that thing that others don't. I just need to know whether you have tested it with an 18.5 inch monitor having 1366 x 768 resolution? If yes, then please let me know what is the result? Will I be able to play games in fullscreen? Or if not 1366 x 768, can I play games in 1280 x 768 or 1280 x 720 resolutions? And very important question...Can I play all PS2 games on my monitor? Please sir, reply quickly and precisely instead of giving diplomatic answers which lead me to nowhere. At least make me feel that I won't be wasting my money after getting your product. Can you check whether it works on an 18.5 inch lcd monitor having that weird rez? If you can do that for me and reply positively, I will blindly place an order for your product. |

Actually the problem is i am not the engineer behind the products that is taken care of by the company in china. I am here to help americans with general problems they may have and for wholesale inquiries. We were hoping this forum would bring other members into the scene to help others out as well, but as of right now i am the only person willing to give any advice on the products XCM sells, which was not my intention when opening this site. The problem is i have taken the role of providing technical support to everyone who buys an XCM product worldwide, not just from us. So in reality all the retailers even those whom do not buy from us get a free ride, which is not fair. Anyhow sorry for the complaints but this is starting to get old quickly. I do not have the kind of monitor you are using nor do i have a ps2 on hand to test it out. So all i can provide is general information on how the device works. You would need to contact the manufacturer directly at http://www.xcm.cc to get a more direct answer. I'm sorry that i cannot give you a 100% certain answer on this but at this time i do not have the required hardware to perform this test. The engineer in charge of making the device should be able to help you out more than i can, i just wish he'd come and post here, but i suppose he/they are busy with upcoming products. Anyhow contact them and wait a day or 2 for an answer as they are located in china and it is the weekend over there. If you get a response please come back and share.

First of all I would like to thank you for being so very co-operative. I did not know that you don't belong to the team of xcm manufacturers. Still you tried your best. I am sorry if I sounded rude at some point. But that was sheer frustration coming out because I could not find anything related to my question over the entire internet going through so many forums asking everyone. I can understand that you won't be having either anything similar to that weird monitor of mine or even the retro ps2 thing. Because you are very much ahead as far as gaming generation is concerned. Thank you for providing me with the last resort to get in touch with the manufacturers themselves. I took you for the technical support mistakenly. I apologize for that. But you were a great help indeed, compared to the other leading to responses on other forums and websites. I will surely get in touch with the xcm manufacturers, if their's a way to get to them on their website. Will share my experience with you for sure. |
