Anyways, I've since bought a CBA 2.0 and it works like a charm (after you open it, and place a formed piece of plastic inside to prevent the S-button from sticking).
I'm being careful with the wire this time around to extend it's life. I'm really posting this because I looked for my thread just as I heard some issues with PS3's 3.50 update. Apperantly some PS2 adapters and some Frag-N-stein's aren't working. I'll edit this and tell you if mine is or isn't working in a few minutes.
