Swapping boards usually works, but has been known to cause issues, usually on sammys. I don't think brute is a fitting word, seeing how easy most of the drives are to work with. Maybe with liteon. Just like modding, replacing drives requires extracting the original key from the original drive, then flashing it to the new drive. This really isn't some mystery machine, its the same type of machine being used by anyone who does anything with the drives.
